Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of 10 projects worth Rs 1200 crore in Bihar and West Bengal along with Kashi through a virtual program on January 13. Ganga Vilas will flag off a cruise and cargo vessel from Varanasi to Dibrugarh on the longest waterway. Along with this, he will inaugurate the tent city situated on the Ganga Par Reti and four floating jetties built in Ghazipur and Ballia. At the same time, he will also lay the foundation stone of five community ghats in two districts of Bihar.
The Prime Minister will join the virtual ceremony at Ravidas Ghat and inaugurate four floating community jetties at Saidpur, Chochakpur, Jamania in Ghazipur and Kanspur in Ballia. Apart from this, foundation stones of five community ghats will be laid at Digha, Nakata Diyara, Badh, Panapur in Patna district and Hasanpur in Samastipur district in Bihar.

He will also inaugurate the Haldia Multi Modal Terminal in West Bengal and the Maritime Skill Development Center for the North East in Guwahati. PM will also lay the foundation stone of ship repair facility and elevated road at Pandu Terminal in Guwahati. In this program, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Water Port Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will be present at Ravidas Ghat in Varanasi. After the conclusion of the virtual program, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will go to the tent city and unveil the boat race trophy there.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be involved in the program organized at Ravidas Ghat on Friday for about an hour. About one thousand dignitaries of the city are also being invited in this. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will be the first to address in the program. After this, the program of inauguration and foundation stone will be completed by PM Modi. The program will be concluded after the PM’s address.
Preparation for departure of cruise has started at Ravidas Ghat. A waterproof platform is being constructed on the ghat by the Inland Waterways Authority of India. According to the officials of the executive body, about 300 chairs will be installed here. Bhajpra’s Chairman Sanjay Bandopadhyay also reached here on Wednesday to take stock of the preparations. In the late evening he inspected the cruise.
In order to promote river transport, the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) is constructing jetties at 60 places between Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. In this, the construction work of 12 jetties has been completed in UP. Jetty construction work is going on at seven places.
September 2023 Regular cruise will operate between Kolkata to Varanasi. With this, there will be a direct connection between West Bengal and Kashi. The cruise of September will take tourists on a regular tour from Kashi to Kolkata.
